Data Center Hot tub & Hibachi Chef: HP can do that!

December 8, 2010 Leave a comment

Another wonderful and amusing video compliments of HP Software. Yes HP can do all that.

Hard not to laugh when I think back to my days as the “New Guy”, “Intern”, “Sys Admin” or whatever you wanna call it.

Worth the viewing. I wanna see the Hot Tub and Hibachi Chef at HP Discover in Vegas in June!!!

Thank you.

How Double-Take and VMware Virtualization can shrink your DR footprint, reduce cost and minimize downtime

Customers’ IT departments often can’t meet their corporate SLA’s due to limited budgets.  Even though typical environments today have a mix of both physical and virtual servers, it is often technically and fiscally prohibitive to replicate and failover production servers to an all virtual environment in DR.

Double-Take uniquely overcomes these barriers, by coupling virtual and physical servers that shrink their DR footprint, reduce licensing costs and dramatically minimize downtime.  Double-Take replicates data real-time between Physical to Virtual servers, and can failover across any distance with a single click.

Double-Take supports heterogeneous storage platforms.  Costly SAN based replication can be completely avoided.

Double-Take’s VRA Auto provisioning utility eliminates software licensing costs at the DR site.  (It’s HOT technology!!)

DoubleTake can replicate, failover and failback between ESX hosts.

Double-Take is the industry leader providing the fastest failover times at the lowest price points.   Users are re-connected and back in production in less than 30 minutes.

Below the Powerpoint reviews the challenges most organizations face today with existing migration, availability and recovery solutions.  The Powerpoint presentation also depicts how Double-Take Software is taking advantage of today’s latest advances in VMware ESX.

VMUG Event – F5 Networks Intro

September 22, 2010 Leave a comment

There are typically seven areas of concern, or pain points, that accompany any major virtual platform implementation or migration. Depending on the scope and nature of the project (size, scale, production versus staging, and so on) these critical areas may either appear immediately or over time, potentially months to years later. Often these issues aren’t seen during staging and testing and only appear when the virtual machines must take on the same production load as physical machines. These critical pain points represent two cornerstones of the data center: network and storage. (Alan Murphy, Technical Marketing Manager, Virtualization @ F5)

VMworld 2010 – Who is attending?

August 10, 2010 2 comments

VMworld 2010 will be held at the Moscone Center in sunny San Francisco California. The event is scheduled for August 30 – September 2nd with this year’s theme being ”Virtual Roads. Actual Clouds.”  Also VMware is introducing a cool program referred to as the; “Ask the Experts Program”.

VMworld will connect you directly with subject-matter authorities through our Knowledge Experts Program. It includes several highly respected members of the VMware community – industry-leading customers, bloggers and VMware employees. They will conduct and participate in Breakout Sessions and Group Discussions. You can also schedule 15-minute One-on-One meetings with up to three Knowledge Experts during the conference. Use these 15-minute sessions to delve into topics that relate specifically to your organization.

For those who haven’t registered yet….

Don’t miss VMworld 2010, the only event where you will get unparalleled access to educational opportunities that show you how to reduce IT complexity and enable IT as a service through virtualization and cloud computing.

For about the same cost as a one-week IT training course, VMworld 2010 offers you:

  • Hundreds of Breakout Sessions and cutting-edge Hands-on Labs
  • Exposure to the newest virtualization and cloud computing technologies in the Solutions Exchange
  • Access to the VMware Booth and Genius Bar, where you can get your questions answered by VMware engineers and experts

Have you attended an Event at the Moscone center? Which hotel would you suggest? Vwware has included a list of hotels in the area on the VMworld 2010 page, however I would like to know what you think?
